Wroblewski, a retired practical nurse, died Tuesday (Sept. 15, 1998) after a lengthy illness, in the Newfane Health Facility. She had been a resident of the nursing home for the past four years. Mrs. Wroblewski, 79, formerly of Creek Road was born Mary Trzepkowski in Cheektowaga.

She had lived in Lewiston for 45 years before going to the nursing home. She worked as a practical nurse at Mount St. Mary's for 15 years and then worked at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for ten years. Mrs. Wroblewski was a member of St.

Peter's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her family. Her husband, Edward died in 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Landers of Ransomville; a son, Eugene "Gene" of Pendleton; a brother, Raymond Trzepkowski of West Clarksville; two sisters, Irene Sitarek of Lackawanna and Florence Pomietiasz of Sloan; and two granddaughters. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. A native of Raffadali, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, she moved to Niagara Falls in 1937. Mrs. Galvano was an avid gardener, seamstress and cook. The church was an integral part of her life, and she was involved in its Sunday school ministry for more than 40 years.

She enjoyed spending time with children. Her husband, Domenic died in 1966. She died Aug. 25, 1998, in Life Care Center, Evergreen, after a long illness.

She was 91. A longtime community and church volunteer, she was the organizer will be held Griffin Lapp, of coln Memorial Child Care Center in Buffalo. She also was the last charter member of the Hughes Class, which started as a young adult Sunday school class at Kenmore United Methodist Church. A Kenmore resident from 1931 to 1993, Mrs. Lapp was an active member of the church for more than 60 years.

Her son, the Rev. Robinson G. "Robb" Lapp Jr. of Coal Creek Canyon, described her as "incorrigibly curious, always learning" and having "a positive outlook" and "an indomitable spirit." Born in Brockport, the former Helen Dillard Griffin grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and Maywood, Ill. She attended Buffalo State Teachers College before becoming one of the first women to receive a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University.

Cornell honored her, 60 years later, with a Distinguished Alumna Award. She also held a master's degree from the University of Buffalo. A home economics teacher in Mexico, N.Y., from 1928 to 1932, Mrs. Lapp was married in 1931 to Robinson G. "Bob" Lapp, an aerospace engineer.

In 1943, their 8-year-old son, Stuart, was killed in a school crossing accident. In 1946, her of the Lin- husband became a paraplegic as the result of a skiing accident. Mrs. Lapp returned to teaching, in Kenmore and North Tonawanda schools, retiring in 1968. After her retirement, she taught young inner-city women homemaking and interpersonal skills.

She organized the Lincoln Memorial Child Care Center and, in 1977. the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Meals on Wheels Program. In 1992, the Rotary Club of Kenmore awarded her a Paul Harris Fellowship for her community. service, particularly with Meals on Wheels. A donation of $1,000 was made to the Rotary International Foundation in Mrs.

'Lapp's honor. She continued to work with the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Meals on Wheels program until 1994 when, at 87, she and her daughter, Katharine Elizabeth Murray, moved to the Denver area. During her many years as an active member of Kenmore United. Methodist Church, she was super-. intendent of the Sunday school which at the time served more than 1,000 children.

She also directed a major Christmas pageant each December at the church during the late Depression and early World War II years. After her husband died in 1960, Mrs. Lapp regularly took young women in need into her home, family members said. Other survivors include two grandaughters, a grandson and four great-grandaughters. Her son and the Rev.

Lynn Reece will co-officiate at a memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday in Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Landers Road, Kenmore. Burial in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda, will be private. Joel Eisenstein, state corrections officer Services for Joel Eisenstein, 44, of Cheektowaga, a corrections officer at Albion State Correctional Facility in Orleans County, were held today in Amherst Memorial Chapel, Getzville. Burial was in Forest Lawn.

Eisenstein, who was born in Queens, was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 15, 1998) at the scene of a multicar accident that occurred late Monday on Route 63 near Albion. Family members said he was en route home from work when his car was involved in a three-car collision. Eisenstein served in the Navy for eight years as a medical corps- man.

He served aboard the USS Eisenhower and was stationed Italy for two years before returning to civilian life. He received an associate's degree in criminal justice from Niagara County Community College and was a graduate of the New York State Department of Corrections Academy in Albany. He was stationed at various correctional facilities throughout the state until 1987, when he was assigned to the facility in Orleans County. He enjoyed playing hockey. Survivors include his wife, the former Patricia Bell; a stepdaughter, Jennel Newman; a stepson, Tommy Wiepert of Kenmore; sister, Laurie Fidler of Boston, a brother, Stephen of New York City; and two stepgrandchildren.

Dorothea L. Porter, volunteer, churchwoman Services for Dorothea L. Porter, 84, of Snyder, a longtime volunteer for the Episcopal Church Home in Buffalo and other organizations, were held this morning in Calvary Episcopal Church, Williamsville. Burial was in Calvary Episcopal Cemetery. Mrs.

Porter died Sunday (Sept. 13, 1998). Born in La Grande, she moved with her parents to Minneapolis and then to Buffalo as her father was transferred to open new mills for Pillsbury. She attended School 61, Bennett High School and Buffalo State Teachers College, where she earned a bachelor of science degree. Mrs.

Porter taught elementary education in the Cleveland Hill School system. In later years, she tutored homebound students as well as Buffalo school students confined to detention homes. She was active for many years at St. Clements Episcopal Church, where she was introduced to L. Woodrow "Woody" Porter, whom she married in 1940.

He died in June. Besides her volunteer work for the Episcopal Church Home, Mrs. Porter joined the associate of directors in 1953 and was board president from 1975 to 1979. Carl W. Wollenberg Carl W.

Wollenberg, 72, of Gasport, a retired employee of Niagara County Community College, died Monday (Sept. 14, 1998) at his home after a long illness. Born in Reynolds Basin, he was a graduate of Gasport High School and served U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been a general foreman at the former Flintkote Co.

in Lockport and was director of the physical plant facilities at Niagara County Community College until retiring in 1993. He was a member of Gasport Lodge 787, Survivors include his wife, the former Norma Zimmerman, and and a son, Raymond of Medina. Burial was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton. In 1979, she was elected to the board of directors and served as secretary for more than 15 years. In 1994, she received the Bishop Scaife Award for EpiscopalCommunity Service.

Mrs. Potter also was an elected delegate to the National Convention for the Episcopal Church. She was to be honored for her years of service later this month at a banquet in conjunction with the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the founding of the Episcopal Church Home. Mrs. Porter remained active in' her college sorority, Alpha Sigma.

Tau, and each summer played hostto a "Tau Tots" party at her Canadian beach house. She was to have been presented the group's National Community Service Award, Pearls of Alpha Sigma Tau, this month. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star for more than years. She served as matron of North East Chapter 708 in 1948. and as district deputy grand matron in 1966.

Mrs. Porter was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Williamsville and Christ Church in Wainfleet, Ont. Surviving are a son, James R. of Amherst; a daughter, Susan E. Jackson of Kenmore; and five grandchildren.

James S. Burdick James S. Burdick, 84, of Lodi, a plant manager for Union Carbide Corp. of Niagara Falls for more than 30 years, died Tuesday (Sept. 15, 1998) in a Lodi convalescent hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Kortright and attended Cornell University. He was a 50-year member of the Lackawanna Masonic lodge and a member of Knox Presbyterian Church of Kenmore. He moved to Lodi two years ago. His wife, Olive, died in March. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne C.

Clay of Lodi; a son, David J. of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Lodi..
