31 Best Stops Between Charlotte and Wilmington (2024)

Great Wolf Lodge Concord features an enormous 84-degree indoor water park perfect for all ages, coupled with tons of dry land activities to keep kids entertained for hours on end.

Highly recommended! Talk about an awesome experience for the little ones. The water park was superb, great rides and the lines were not that long. Their buffet restaurant was absolutely FANTASTIC for breakfast and dinner, we loved it! There’s so many activities and things to do, is a great place for the entire family. The Kamp suites were a hit! The kids loved having their own area with their bunk beds. It was really a great time! 10/10

I had one of the best times with my son, niece, nephews and my Mother at our 3 day stay at Great Wolf Lodge. The atmosphere and activities were amazing and the children loved everything they could do. Really a place for the whole family to have a blast. Now this is not 5 stars because there was really a big flaw with the place. They are pretty greedy almost to an absurd level. You have already paid well over 600 dollars to be there for two nights and they have several things for everyone to do that do not cost anything. But if there is anything on their grounds that you have to pay for, I would just be prepared to hear some of the most ridiculous prices for whatever it is you are looking for. They had a small gift shop which was fine. We checked it out and found a small candy shop area in it with gummy worms and assorted candy. The children wanted some so we go to the desk and get a small 8 oz. or less cup to fill with candy. When we go back to the desk to pay is when you find out that this small cup of the same candy you can get at most gas stations for a dollar is going to cost you $18 before tax. And that is just one example of the several things like that you will be exposed to. So I had a great time and in the end paid greatly for it.

My family and I had a great time. We took our 2 boys, 1 and 4, and it was so much fun. We only did the water park and stayed in the rooms. I do think the pricing is a little high, but, if you can find deals, it is worth it.I would definitely go again. It's also close by to where we live and close to the mall. You do not have to eat there if you don't want to. We ate out every night. But next time I want to try out their food.

This place is way too expensive for what you get. Paying for 5 star rooms, but get motel 6 quality rooms. Food there I paid $70+ a meal for 2 adults, 2 kids. When we went to Golden Corral 10 mins away, paid $40 for 2 adults, 2 kids and had all you can eat. It's a money trap. The water park is actually great. The kids and I loved the water. So my recommendations is buy their day passes and call it a day trip.

We had a blast! We only stayed one night and we had plenty of time to do everything. We arrived early and enjoyed the water park while we waited for our room to become available. The room was spacious and clean. We purchased the wolf pass and the kids got to enjoy the arcade, laser tag, movie and other fun activities. We also enjoyed all the free events they hosted!

I’ve been to this resort several times, but I was very disappointed in this stay. Let’s start off with they advertise a rate at $169 but add a resort fee of $39.99. I ordered a birthday package of $89 not worth it at all. I asked for the Pizza voucher that comes with package so we could have it for lunch. The lady at the front desk said we couldn’t do that. That the pizza coupon would be delivered to the room between 4 & 6. That’s not explained at all! Which really messed up our birthday lunch. We finally got to order a pizza but they got our order wrong. The guys were nice enough to make us a new pizza. We were told they would text us when our room was ready and they never did. It’s pushing 5pm and we had to leave the water park to go ask the front desk. Our door was not decorated for the birthday which was also included in the birthday package. I had to call about that. Then to top it all off the A/C in our room wasn’t working properly. When we entered the room it was cool. The controller on the wall didn’t work. The actual unit was blowing out heat at 4:12am. We would turn it down to 64, made sure it’s on cool but still blowing heat. We turn the unit off and it would still blow out heat with a code FP. We had to sleep with the outside balcony door open because I didn’t want to call maintenance and wake up the kids. When I did report it to the front desk; the guy just looked at me and said I’ll report it to maintenance, With no consideration that we didn’t sleep good. Seems like they’ve lost their customer service over the years. My kids are older now I’m sure this will be our last trip because not sleeping well and having to drive 2 hours isn’t fun.

My family and I went to a celebration on Christmas Day. It was very special for my children and my husband. We were very happy. There are many enjoyable moments that can be shared with family and friends. The buffet starts at the breakfast restaurant at eight in the morning. It was an excellent breakfast that you can eat here. The cleanliness and service are excellent. It may cost you between a room for rent. For 4 persons mom dad and 2 tenajer with Playing games and eating for two days, between 1500 to 2000 dollars is not very much for the Christmas holiday.

The place was amazing, the indoor water park had a lot to do between the wave pool and the rides you could be there for hours and still be entertained. There is also an outdoor pool but due to the weather we could not experience it. Though from our room we could see that the pool was massive. They have multiple places in the lodge to eat so you do not have to go anywhere and the activities you can do in the lodge will last you multiple days between magiquest, mini-golf, bowling, etc. They also run events pretty much all day in the lobby so you can always just go to the second floor and let your kids dance and play to the events while you relax at the sitting areas around there. The only reason it's not five stars is because the elevators are super slow due to only being two elevators among a huge amount of guests and the parking is packed to the brim due to the amount of guests so getting a good parking spot is all luck.

Someone told me this place was very over priced and the rooms were outdated….. My experience was completely opposite! I was very impressed with the room it’s self. It was clean and the decor is charming. The only issue I did notice is there was a lot of food left in the bunk bed. Like crime from someone eating in bed. I brought my 3yr old here to celebrate is birthday and he loved every minute of it. The pool was of course our main attraction but we also enjoyed the arcade and bowling. We love that the arcade games still actually dispense tickets. For my 3yr old that was the best part! He kept yelling “TICKETS!!!” Every time he won 🤣. He loved it. The complimentary wolf ears were cute and we took a bunch of pictures in them. The gift shop is cute and depending on what you’re looking for it can be a little pricey but not outside of what you would expect to pay at a resort. We didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the live shows because we were so busy but passing by it was something we decided we definitely would make time for next visit. There is something for everyone at The Great Wolf Lodge.

Overall, a 5 star two nights. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean. The indoor water park was warm, well maintained and clean. The kids had a blast. The whole family loved the bowling.Negatives:The air conditioner unit in the room was so loud, and so was the fan in the bathroom. The rewards for the arcade were pretty skimpy with not many choices. The water park was enjoyable, but my 3 year was upset she couldn't ride any of the bigger rides including the family raft one.

Great indoor water park! Celebrated our little ones' birthday here, and that was perfect. We got the birthday package, they provided everything we needed for the little party. The boys even loved the cake! Can't say enough about the park and the great staff and service! Recommend getting the Wolf Pass if you're thinking about doing most of the activities. It allows you to do most everything you could want to do. Kids especially loved the Magic Quest!

We live in Charlotte but have never visited the Great Wolf Lodge. I took advantage of coming since we had weekend visitors. I must say, I hate that I waited SO long to visit. The customer service was amazing and the amenities are awesome. Everything you need is right here! The slides and pools are adult friendly as well, and there's also a bar at the outside pool as well as inside at the water park. Something for everyone to be able to relax and enjoy. I highly recommend a visit, at least once.

Reading the reviews I had set myself up to be disappointed but from moment 1 everything was great. The staff was wonderful, the food was good, the whole resort was clean (I saw staff meticulously cleaning at all hours of the day and night) and the pools were fun for all ages. I definitely recommend buying the breakfast buffet ahead of time - it was well worth it and really good. We will definitely be back. Kudos to your staff for giving all your guests a wonderful vacation.

Overall the experience was meh. The water park is the highlight and definitely worth visiting. My son loved the activities he got with his Wolf Pass ($99). Mini golf was the a let down. They obviously haven't been taking care of it..the cups for the holes stick up above the turf and on some holes the starting spot where u begin is totally missing and there just plastic in it's place. The room and on site food weren't so great. Our room smelled old, moldy, and dusty which made for an awful night's sleep if u have allergies. As you walk throughout the establishment you see dust bunnies caked up on almost everything. My wife made a reservation for the on site restaurant and I 1000% suggest just going off-site to eat. The food was edible but definitely not my top 1000 places to eat.Long story short - they need a remodel/update the rooms and dust BAD. I would just get a day pass and stay at another hotel in the area.

We went to celebrate a birthday, and we can't say one bad thing about this place. The grounds are gorgeous, the place is CLEAN. Our room was sparkling clean, I can't say enough about the staff. Every single person we came in contact with was exceptional. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back!! They keep the kiddos busy with lots of daily activities. 5 stars! 🌟

My kids loved their visit for the most part. They enjoyed having everything in one place and being inside during the cold winter. This is a great idea to have and recommend that people check-out for themselves, if it matches your needs. The three stars comes from our shortened time at the water park due to our kids being scared of the bugs.Pros: Stay where you can play, All the attractions you need to stay busy for a couple of days, in-door water park, food options were good to great depending on the entree you picked.Cons: Little directional signs, Rooms are dated and could have more themed characters, bugs in the water area scared our children, (Great Wolf Lodge can’t fix this, but) A lot of coughing and germs flying around, no courtesy masking in sight (consider masking if you are there in peak flu/covid time)

Kids enjoyed it well enough. Floors in the rooms were carpet and felt sticky. I'm sure this place was nice and awesome when it first opened but now just feels old and not cared for properly. For the price I expected way better. All the "events" happening in the lobby just left a bunch of crowds trying to get around each other. The output was horribly dryrot and fun for small kids that don't have any point of reference. The food should not be as expensive as it is when the tickets are already high and quality was just not there. Better drink options are needed, flavored waters instead of constant soda would be nice as well. We may try another location but don't think it's worth it, especially this location.

Overall, my children had a wonderful time. The water park was awesome and the room was clean.Staff was very friendly and helpful.Big.downfall for me, the "Iron Horse Fitness Center" was less than up to par.I understand the pictures online are of another facility, but it is still very misleading to show that fitness center online, as it is absolutely not even close. It was filthy! The water fountain was so dusty and dirty, I really questioned the last time it was cleaned. One side of the water fountain did not work. The exercise bike chair was broken, the only two machines in there that offered weight training were broken as well. The equipment is outdated but for me that's not an issue, it being in working order is the issue. Also, that is the smallest gym facility at a hotel or resort that I have ever been to. They definitely have room for more equipment.Parents have their own things that they enjoy, this should be a big deal!

We went to great wolf lodge with my son's school for a family day. It was truly a great time, there was so much for kids to do from the multiple pools, water slides, games and all around there indoor adventures. One day is definitely not enough time to bring it all in and do everything they offer. Me and my family will definitely be going back for a longer stay next time to try out there adventure quest game takes place threw out the whole resort. Also they have these really neat wolf slippers in kids and adult sizes.

Fun place for bigger kids. My son is 4 and wanted to do some of the other rides but was just too short. I think their height requirements are a little crazy. Fun activities for the kids. Never had any hot water or a warm shower the entire time I was here. They had an issue with the hot water. Very overpriced. I’m glad the kids had fun but I can honestly say I would want to come back.

Loved this place! The kids had a blast. The water park was clean and fun and the arcade wasn't over populated and had great games. They have other fun things like build a bear, gold mining, laser tag, and more. We did all of it and the kids were so happy. The room with the wolf den was awesome and the show in the lobby was so darn cute! Best of all? They have a text service concierge that you can text at any time and get immediate answers. We would definitely return.

Had a birthday weekend with my granddaughter. There however was a mix up with the billing. I was very upset until I spoke to Shannon McGovern at the front desk. She spent so much time with me explaining what happened, and FIXED IT IMMEDIATELY. She made me feel like I was the only customer in the whole place. Miss McGovern saved our trip. She is remarkable and her customer service was fabulous. Because of Ms. McGovern, I would come back. I normally don't do google reviews, but if I could give her 10 stars I would!!

This is a comment about customer service. We haven't been to the location yet. We booked for one night, which includes two days at the water park - the day of check-in and the day of check-out... On our day of check-out, the water park will be closed for maintenance. I called customer service and asked if we could receive day passes to use at the water park on a later date to make up for the day the park will be closed. I was told they would not do this. I confirmed that single day passes are a product that they sell. They confirmed that they do sell single day passes. I asked again why I couldn't be issued single day passes for the day the park will be closed for maintenance, and they simply repeated that they would not do this. Their only answer was for me to change my reservation date. However, the day I reserved is the only time we will be in town, so I can't change the date. Also, it is in their interest to book the day/night before maintenance to get money for the room. It's just plain, good customer service to not allow your customer to only receive a fraction of what they actually paid for. It's completely doable for them to issue day passes. They simply won't do it. We will keep our reservation, but, unfortunately, this company has revealed themselves to be in it for the money, not for the customer's experience. In the long-term, that's just bad business.

I came here with my family. The room is amazing, the location is good and convenient, the service wasn’t bad but could be a lot better. But the real issue was the pool and the deck condition. The pool was covered and algae and there was fecal matter on the deck along with the restrooms. I personally find this absolutely disgusting and unsanitary for such an expensive hotel. It took them a long time for the staff to finally clean it up. There were foot prints imprinted in the fecal matter which spread all around the deck of the pool and possibly inside of it. This ruined the vacation for me and my family. We came for my sisters birthday and this left me, my family, and other guest absolutely disgusted.

Overall went for the Little one to visit some old friends and went to the Arcade. The parking was horrible as they had their entrance and exit all over the place. The rooms were nice and not overall priced. The Arcade was very nice with a bunch of other features such as bowling and laser tag. They also have Santa currently in their lobby which was really cool to see . Overall great experience and me and the family didn't even stay, had such a good time that we plan on returning on vacation next year and staying there.

We had a wonderful visit to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord NC during November 2023. The indoor water park was very nice and the kids absolutely LOVED it. Our upgraded room was spacious and clean, but a little dated. We purchased the breakfast buffet and snack credits. Each morning's breakfast was very good. We also got our kids the paw pass. It came with a build a bear, arcade credits and candy/snacks. I would say it was worth the price and the kids loved making the build a bears. We will return one day and bring friends for our children to go down the slides with, so the adults can get a little more relaxation, instead of climbing water slide stairs all day.

The staff was all great. Everyone was super nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The water park is awesome. If you come with teens that aren’t into the wand thingy or build a bear you can get an adventurer’s pass for $149 that includes most of the games for your whole party for the duration of your stay. This is not advertised anywhere that I could find. The drinks are very good at the watering hole, but expensive. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the Loose Moose dinner buffet. The food was not that fresh and the selection was not that great, certainly not for the price charged. I guess you are paying for the convenience, but I would recommend eating out. All in all we had a great time but wish the food was better and cheaper.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed. Perhaps I expected too much.First, the bad: extremely crowded, even during the weekday. They charge $100 "incidental deposit" PER NIGHT to stay here, something we didn't know until we checked in. Food is not good. Almost every activity costs extra $$$, water park excluded. I expected more for how much we paid. The good: rooms were really clean. All in all, our trip was disappointing. For those considering visiting, I'd recommend staying off-site and doing a day pass.

Just had an overnight experience here, one of several for my boys. The rooms and the overall facility are very well-maintained and kept up. It was Disney-levels of upkeep, which says a lot.The water park was the reason we came and it does impress. The slides are great fun! The towels could be more easily accessible, rather than hidden in the gift shop with no signage. We ate off-site for the most part, as the food here is pricy and just so-so quality. With so many options to eat in Concord, the in-house dining did not appeal. The only reason for -1 star for us were the hours for the water park. It closes early (8pm) and opens very late (10am) so a lot of times where you'd otherwise be in the pool. It's VERY difficult to keep excited boys entertained until TEN in the morning. They've been up and ready to go since 8:30...

Matt Kuerth — Google review

I'm sure if it wasn't packed for spring break, it would be better, but as it was, it was... fine... I guess. The kitchen staff was hilarious. They constantly messed up orders, argued amongst themselves, and were slow. Housekeeping regularly made negative and rude comments in Spanish, thinking we didn't understand Spanish.... whoops.Life guards were on point! Great life guards.Waterpark was nice, but there was no large hot tub. My kids were frequently cold and unable to warm up well despite the heated pools.Magic quest was fine, kinda limitedOverall, it's a pretty ok experience. Not blown away, the overcrowding for spring break really isn't the parks fault, but if there were fewer people, it would have been better. We got a group on, but it was still overly expensive. They nickle and dime you for fountain drinks, which was absurd. Everything was absurdly priced. Bring your own food/ beverages.

I had the bright idea to bring my family here for a night to celebrate my 3 year old’s birthday. The crowds in this place are absolutely insane. The noise level in the water park makes it impossible to carry on a conversation. This may be a personal preference, but I thought the water in the water park was too cold, and the air temperature inside was too cold too, especially given that it’s cold outside.Speaking of cold, the showers weren’t working properly during our stay. We came back to our room from the water park, eager to take showers to warm up, only to find that the water pressure was very poor and the water wouldn’t get hot. I notified the front desk of the issue and they advised me that this is a known issue and maintenance was working on it. A search of google reviews reveals that this is, in fact, a known and apparently longstanding issue. For $600 a night, I need to be able to use the shower in the room. The front desk staff initially offered a completely inadequate solution of free vouchers for the breakfast buffet. I declined and was able to convince them to refund 20% of the room. All activities other than the water park cost extra. All snacks, food, and drink are very expensive, but this is to be expected at a “resort.”It is a shame that this was such an unpleasant experience; this place could be a great place to bring the kids for a little fun but it’s too expensive and the facilities are not up to par.

Holli Patillo — Google review

Wonderful place to get away with the kids, especially in the winter. Lots of things to do. There's not many indoor places like it. Food is good simple American fare, rooms are decent and the place is huge. Unfortunately the pool hours close to early and open up to late, it's a really pity on them they cannot accommodate better hours, I would probably go more and host more Birthdays days there.
